Description

This image was a little challenge for myself. I saw a similar image in an illustration with a goblin type creature holding a severed knights head by the hair and got a render idea from it. I wanted to do this with the products i had installed and not use a modeling app which I would normally do.

The severed head is a genesis 1 addon from Rawart with G3 textures applied via a Cayman Studios UV product. The problem with that is that the geografts interfered with the final outcome, so I used the geometry editor to hide the parts I didn't need.

The hair is Geneva hair for G3. I parented it to Genesis 1, and applied a smoothing modifier for a snug fit. Before that I loaded another version if it up and used the geometry editor to delete all parts other than the tail. Then exported as an .OBJ, re-imported that .OBJ and then made it dynamic with a script from Renderocity. I then turned it upside down, placed it in the Orcs hand and ran a dynamic simulation for the hair holding effect. Then once I positioned the Genesis 1 head in place, I added a deformer to the Geneva hair to raise the crown to the dynamic part.

The blood effect was a slime addon I had where i found one preload part that looked close to what I wanted, so I loaded it up, re-scaled/shaped it and added a blood shader. Then did the same for the ground blood.

The environment is a mix of various plants I had installed and lots of instancing to save on resources and make it look fuller. The atmosphere is a sky HDRI and Atmo cam for the fog/haze effect
The rest is pure Iray render with no postwork.
